I only read through the first section, Galilee. Lake has a low view of scripture which is reflected in his scholarship. He views Christianity as the result of a Mix of Judaism and oriental traditions. This work may appeal to some, but not to me.

Very interesting
This book is "readable" and that is important for the student. The facts and their significance can be read in more ways than one and that stimulates what history-writing should provide, in my opinion.
There were many interesting theological concepts here, but I admit I understood or could contextualize only some of the material. I'm just beginning to study theology. I'll have to read this again once I'm more well-versed in theology and I will be able to give a better assessment of the book.
